Prometheus Energetics Breaks Ground on Solid Rocket Motor Manufacturing Campus in Indiana

Bloomfield, IN – February 2026 — Prometheus Energetics, a U.S.-based joint venture between Kratos Defense & Security Solutions and RAFAEL Advanced Defense Systems, has broken ground on a new solid rocket motor and energetics manufacturing campus in Indiana. The project marks a significant step toward strengthening America’s domestic defense supply chain.
Kratos and RAFAEL have jointly committed up to $175 million in capital for the campus, covering property, plant, equipment, workforce development, and technology transfer. The facility, spanning approximately 600 acres as part of a larger National Security Industrial Hub, is designed to deliver scalable production of solid rocket motors (SRMs) and energetics.
Production is projected to begin in 2027 following construction and certification of manufacturing processes. The campus aims to provide up to 800 tons of domestic energetics capacity across multiple production lines.
“This marks the moment when a known vulnerability in America’s solid rocket motor supply chain begins to be closed. Prometheus was created to operate at production scale, delivering trusted, domestically produced energetics systems to meet urgent and long-term U.S. and allied defense needs,” said Dan Merenda, Chief Operating Officer of Prometheus Energetics.
The initiative is expected to create hundreds of high-wage jobs in the region and support critical missile systems for the U.S. and its allies by reducing reliance on foreign sources.
