Lockheed Martin Invests $300M in Grand Prairie Munitions

Lockheed Martin announced on October 14 plans to create 6,000 jobs across the United States, including 2,000 in Texas, as it expands advanced manufacturing capacity to accelerate production of critical munitions. The company celebrated a ribbon cutting for a nearly 200,000-square-foot expansion in Grand Prairie, Texas.

$300 million in Grand Prairie

Lockheed Martin is investing $300 million at Grand Prairie, growing its manufacturing footprint there to more than 735,000 square feet. The expansion includes 100,000 square feet of new space and 85,000 square feet of office space being transformed for advanced manufacturing.

Hadrian automation partnership

Hadrian will bring a highly automated 24-machine machining cell to the facility, operated by the Lockheed Martin workforce. The cell is expected to be operational in early 2027 and will add dedicated capacity for critical defense components.

Speed and scale

Jim Taiclet, chairman, president and CEO of Lockheed Martin said:

“Lockheed Martin has brought together commercial speed and combat-proven performance because America needs both. By combining advanced technology with the expertise of our American workforce, we’re transforming manufacturing to deliver critical munitions at speed and scale.”

Chris Power, CEO of Hadrian said:

“The warfighter can’t wait on peacetime timelines. Hadrian is bringing the automation, software and workforce training from our own factories directly inside Lockheed Martin, so we can produce more, faster.”
