L3Harris Opens Solid Rocket Motor Facility in Camden, AR

L3Harris Technologies opened its new Arsenal of Freedom solid rocket motor production facility in Camden, Arkansas, on October 20.

Doubling GMLRS motor capacity

L3Harris designed the facility to double current capacity, with additional growth available. Together with new propellant processing facilities, it will support production for the U.S. Army’s Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS).

Part of a $216 million agreement

The facility is part of a $216 million Defense Production Act Title III cooperative agreement signed with the Department of War in 2023 to support demand for Javelin, Stinger and GMLRS. L3Harris is also building the Arkansas Advanced Propulsion Facilities and two facilities for PAC-3 propulsion in Camden.

Strengthening the industrial base

Ken Bedingfield, President, Missile Solutions, L3Harris said:

“The opening of this state-of-the-art facility marks a major step forward in strengthening the solid rocket motor industrial base our nation and its allies urgently need.”
