Covenant Opens Anthem Missile Factory in Grand Prairie, TX

Defense startup Covenant emerged from stealth in September with the grand opening of a 105,000-square-foot missile factory in Grand Prairie, Texas, and $250 million in venture capital.

Building Anthem

The North Texas facility makes Anthem, a new heavy-payload, long-range cruise missile. Covenant has manufactured prototypes and test units there and plans to begin full-scale production in the first quarter of 2027.

Ramping to 5,000 units a year

The company aims to ramp production to 5,000 units per year. Covenant says most of Anthem’s parts are off the shelf, positioning it as less expensive than missiles in the current U.S. stockpile.

Army and Navy work

Covenant holds a U.S. Army contract for accelerated testing and qualification and a contract with the Navy’s Rapid Capabilities Office to adapt Anthem for maritime use. It also operates facilities in Saxony, Germany, and Israel.

Michael Kaufman, co-founder and CEO of Covenant said:

“When you look at our adversaries, you see thousands of hardened targets beyond the range of current capabilities. Anthem was built to credibly hold those targets at risk in a prolonged conflict. If our stockpiles run thin, so does our deterrence.”
