Foundry Robotics Raises $100 Million to Expand Autonomous Assembly Factory in Emeryville, California

Foundry Robotics Raises $100M for Emeryville, CA Factory

Foundry Robotics announced on October 28 a $100 million Series A round to build out its facility in Emeryville, California, which it describes as America’s first autonomous factory for assembly.

130,000-square-foot facility

Foundry has expanded its manufacturing footprint twenty-fold to a 130,000-square-foot facility in Emeryville. The company serves defense and commercial customers, focusing on high-value, complex electro-mechanical products facing production constraints.

Physical AI for flexible assembly

The funding will accelerate deployment of AI models into real-world manufacturing and expand the company’s robotics research, engineering and factory operations teams. Foundry uses physical AI to build flexible assembly capacity that deploys quickly and adapts to different products.

Investors and acquisition

The round was led by Marlinspike Partners with participation from Khosla Ventures, Wing VC and others. Foundry also acquired Avea Robotics, whose Sentinel platform enables real-time remote control of robots.

Adarsh Kulkarni, founder and CEO of Foundry Robotics said:

“We believe the factories that revive America’s manufacturing sector will need to be rethought from the ground up rather than retrofitting one aspect in an existing factory. Our mission is to revitalize U.S. manufacturing and create more capacity to build and scale critical product assembly.”
