Project Type: Expanding existing US production
Barilla Plans Nearly $170 Million Two-Phase Expansion of Avon, New York Pasta Plant

New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced on May 20 a major two-phase expansion of Barilla’s dry pasta manufacturing facility in the Town of Avon, Livingston County, totaling nearly $170 million.
$145 million Phase One
Barilla will invest $145 million in Phase One, which includes a new 52,000-square-foot main building with one new production line and three packaging lines, plus a new warehouse for storage and distribution. The added space will allow a second production line to be installed in Phase Two. The company expects to complete the first phase by March 2028.
90+ new jobs
Barilla expects to create more than 90 new jobs once both phases are complete. Empire State Development is supporting the project with up to $2.75 million in Excelsior Jobs Tax Credits. The Avon plant opened in 2007 following an initial $75 million investment and has created and sustained about 145 jobs.
Fabio Pettenari, Supply Chain Vice President, Barilla Americas said:
“This expansion marks an important step in our continued growth in the U.S. and underscores our commitment to the Town of Avon. This expansion also enables us to strengthen our North American supply chain and cut CO2 emissions by approximately 3,000 tons annually.”
Melissa Tendick, President, Barilla Americas said:
“This expansion supports our ability to meet growing demand while remaining focused on what matters most — delivering high-quality pasta that consumers know and trust.”
