BAE Systems to Open Space Hardware Production Facility in Weld County, Colorado

BAE Systems announced on October 21, 2026, that it has closed on the purchase of a 130,000-square-foot production facility in Weld County, Colorado. The building, on approximately 13 acres, will expand the company’s manufacturing capabilities for space-based hardware and sensor systems.
Up to 600 jobs
BAE Systems expects to hire more than 200 new employees at the site over the next 12 to 24 months. At full capacity, the facility could employ approximately 600 people. The Colorado Economic Development Commission approved up to $11.18 million in performance-based Job Growth Incentive Tax Credits for the project.
Production from early 2028
The company plans to retrofit the facility and procure equipment through the rest of the year and expects to open it for production in early 2028. It will be BAE Systems’ first facility in Weld County, joining nearby production sites in Boulder, Broomfield and Westminster.
Alexis Wang, vice president of operations for BAE Systems said:
“We look forward to expanding our production capabilities in Colorado with our first facility in Weld County.”
Colorado Governor Jared Polis said:
“This investment will bring hundreds of good-paying jobs to Weld County and further solidify our state as a hub for cutting-edge technology and innovation.”
