TSMC Invests $100 Billion in Five New U.S. Chip Factories

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) committed in March 2025 to a $100 billion investment for five new U.S. chip factories, primarily in Arizona, bringing its total U.S. spending to $165 billion. The expansion, driven by tariffs on semiconductor imports, will produce advanced AI and smartphone chips, creating 40,000 construction jobs and tens of thousands of high-tech roles. This supports U.S. national security goals by reducing reliance on overseas production.
