Northwood Space Opens Antenna Factory in Torrance, CA

Northwood Space Corp., which builds ground network infrastructure connecting satellites to Earth, has opened a new 185,000-square-foot headquarters and factory in Torrance, California. The facility will add 400 jobs over the next three years.

Fivefold manufacturing growth

The plant grows the company’s manufacturing footprint from 25,000 to 135,000 square feet and will produce hundreds of antennas per year. It adds dedicated production lines for Northwood’s Portal phased-array panels and Prism parabolic antennas, along with an in-house printed circuit board (PCB) assembly line and expanded machining.

Bridgit Mendler, co-founder and CEO of Northwood said:

“This facility represents the next stage for Northwood’s growth. We have demonstrated capability across two product lines, Portal and Prism, and now we have the infrastructure to press print on building the network with scaled links and throughput.”

City of Torrance Mayor Sharon Kalani said:

“Northwood’s decision to establish its headquarters and dramatically expand manufacturing in Torrance is a powerful vote of confidence in our city and our highly skilled workforce. This new facility will help create 400 high-quality jobs and further strengthen the aerospace and advanced manufacturing sector shaping Torrance’s future.”
