Texas Instruments Invests Over $60 Billion in Expanding Chip Production in the USA

Texas Instruments' $60B USA Chip Expansion

In June 2025, the American company Texas Instruments (TI), one of the leading semiconductor manufacturers, announced record investments of more than 60 billion dollars to expand production in the United States. These funds will be directed towards the construction and modernization of seven factories at three major sites: in Sherman (Texas), Richardson (Texas), and Lehi (Utah).

The first factory in Sherman (SM1) is already ready for launch and will begin chip production in 2025, just three years after construction started. Overall, the new capacities will allow for the production of hundreds of millions of chips daily, focusing on analog and embedded processors for cars, smartphones, data centers, and other devices. The investments are motivated by growing demand for basic semiconductors and support for innovations in partnership with companies like Apple, Ford, Medtronic, NVIDIA, and SpaceX, as well as the US government.

Although TI continues to operate factories abroad (in Germany, Japan, and China), where part of the production is carried out, the current plans emphasize strengthening domestic production in the USA, which aligns with global trends in relocating supply chains. In August 2025, Apple confirmed that it will produce chips for iPhone at the new TI factories. This investment will create about 60 thousand jobs and strengthen the USA’s position in the semiconductor industry.
