Orbic Breaks Ground on $110 Million U.S. Facility to Create Over 1,000 Jobs

Orbic Electronics Manufacturing, a New York-based cell phone and tech company, broke ground in June 2025 on a $110 million advanced manufacturing hub in Hauppauge, Suffolk County, Long Island. The 135,000 square-foot facility will focus on producing 5G-connected devices, including smartphones and electronics, with construction expected to complete by late 2026. This expansion will create more than 1,000 high-tech and skilled manufacturing jobs while retaining 66 existing positions, marking a significant boost to local employment. Governor Kathy Hochul highlighted the project during the groundbreaking, noting its role in revitalizing New York’s manufacturing sector.
The initiative is part of Orbic’s strategy to reshore tech jobs from China and India, reducing dependency on overseas production amid tariffs and supply chain concerns. Supported by state incentives, the facility will incorporate cutting-edge automation for electronics assembly, aiming to onshore 5G device manufacturing and potentially unveil new products like 5G-connected electric vehicles. Orbic plans to build additional factories across the U.S., signaling a broader commitment to domestic production in the electronics industry.
This investment is projected to stimulate the local economy in Suffolk County through job creation and supplier partnerships, though challenges like skilled labor shortages may arise. As of August 2025, progress continues on schedule, positioning Orbic as a key player in the U.S. reshoring movement for high-tech manufacturing.
