Overland AI Opens New Factory in South Seattle for Autonomous Vehicle Production

Seattle, WA – September 5, 2025
Overland AI, a leader in autonomous vehicle technology, has opened a state-of-the-art factory in South Seattle dedicated to the production of autonomous ground vehicles (AGVs) for defense and national security applications. The facility, spanning 50,000 square feet, is expected to create 200 high-skilled jobs in the region and bolster the U.S. Department of Defense’s capabilities in autonomous systems.
The factory will focus on manufacturing AGVs designed for rugged terrains, supporting missions such as reconnaissance, logistics, and surveillance. Overland AI’s proprietary technology integrates advanced AI algorithms and sensor fusion, enabling vehicles to operate in complex environments without human intervention. The company has secured contracts with the U.S. Army and other defense agencies, positioning the factory as a critical hub for national security innovation.
“This facility marks a significant step in advancing autonomous technology for defense applications,” said Overland AI CEO, Dr. Emily Chen. “South Seattle’s vibrant tech ecosystem and skilled workforce make it an ideal location for our expansion.” The factory is also expected to contribute $50 million annually to the local economy, with plans for future expansion by 2027.
