ABB Invests $110 Million to Bolster U.S. Manufacturing Operations

Global technology leader ABB has unveiled plans to invest $110 million in expanding its U.S. manufacturing footprint, targeting four key facilities to enhance production capabilities and support growing demand in electrification products.
The investments include an expansion of the Emax 3 circuit breaker line at its Richmond, Virginia, site; a $30 million upgrade in Arecibo, Puerto Rico; facility improvements at the Pinetops, North Carolina plant; and a $15 million infusion into the Senatobia, Mississippi location. These initiatives are expected to create nearly 200 new jobs and introduce advanced assembly lines and test centers, with operations slated to come online in 2026.
Morten Wierod, President of ABB Electrification, emphasized the strategic move: “This $110 million investment in the US is part of our long-term strategy to support future growth in our biggest global market.”
The projects underscore ABB’s commitment to domestic manufacturing amid rising needs for sustainable energy solutions and infrastructure resilience.
