Stellantis Pledges $13 Billion in U.S. Investment, Moves Jeep Production from Canada

Stellantis Invests $13B, Moves Jeep to U.S.

Stellantis announced a historic $13 billion investment across U.S. operations over the next four years – the largest single U.S. investment in the automaker’s 100‑year U.S. history.
Under the plan, U.S. production capacity is expected to grow by 50%, with the introduction of five new vehicle models and refreshes of 19 additional models. The investment will also include engine and powertrain upgrades.
Critically, the move involves relocating Jeep production of the Compass model from Brampton, Ontario (Canada) to Belvidere, Illinois, triggering layoffs in Canada.
The Belvidere plant is slated to reopen and will produce two Jeep models, creating about 3,300 new jobs.
Other U.S. investments include:

  • New midsize truck production in Toledo, Ohio (nearly +900 jobs)

  • A new large SUV line (ICE + range‑extended EV) at Warren, Michigan

  • Production of the next generation Dodge Durango in Detroit

  • Engine production (new four‑cylinder) in Kokomo, Indiana

Stellantis says it will add more than 5,000 new jobs in U.S. plants across Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana.
The company frames the shift as a strategic response to tariff exposure: U.S. import duties and trade policy uncertainties could cost Stellantis up to $1.7 billion annually.
