Kratos Opens High-Volume Engine Manufacturing Facility in Michigan

Auburn Hills, MI – Kratos Defense & Security Solutions (NASDAQ: KTOS) officially opened a new 22,500-square-foot propulsion manufacturing facility in Auburn Hills, Michigan, capable of producing up to 50,000 Spartan turbojet engines annually.
The facility, operated by Kratos’ Unmanned Systems Division, is designed for concurrent high-rate production of the company’s attritable and expendable turbine engines used in target drones, loitering munitions, and cruise missile systems.
Steve Fendley, president of Kratos Unmanned Systems Division, highlighted the facility’s production-first philosophy: “Our production-first mindset has been key to our success in realizing high-reliability, military-grade engines with key operational features that can be produced affordably and delivered at high rates. This is a result of our focus on producibility and cost right from the start, rather than the traditional performance-first, manufacturability-and-cost-second approach.”
The Michigan plant significantly expands Kratos’ domestic engine production capacity and supports growing U.S. Department of Defense demand for low-cost, high-volume attritable unmanned systems.
