Samsung Biologics has finalized an agreement with GSK to acquire a 60,000-liter manufacturing site in Rockville, Maryland—marking the company’s first U.S. production facility. This acquisition underscores Samsung Biologics’ expanding presence in the U.S. and its commitment to enhancing its manufacturing capabilities for global healthcare.

CEO John Rim described the acquisition as a significant milestone, stating, “This landmark acquisition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to advancing global healthcare and bolstering our manufacturing capabilities in the U.S.” The acquisition will also support the company’s ongoing efforts to meet increasing global demand for biopharmaceuticals, with further investments planned to increase the site’s production capacity.
