Sanmina Corporation has announced a major expansion into energy infrastructure with the opening of a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas, dedicated to producing medium and high voltage transformers and switchgear. The facility marks a strategic diversification of the company’s manufacturing portfolio into the rapidly growing energy sector.

The Houston factory will leverage Sanmina’s established expertise in precision engineering and advanced manufacturing to produce critical electrical equipment used in power transmission, distribution, and storage systems. Chairman and CEO Jure Sola emphasized the strategic fit of the expansion: “We are very pleased to announce this expansion of Sanmina’s Energy-related business. We believe that the transmission, distribution and storage of electric power provides an excellent fit for Sanmina’s core competences in engineering and manufacturing to deliver cutting-edge medium-voltage and high-voltage equipment.”

The investment reflects strong demand for domestically manufactured energy infrastructure components as utilities and grid operators modernize electrical systems and expand capacity. Sanmina’s entry into this market positions the company to capitalize on substantial opportunities in the energy transition and grid resilience sectors.
