Maricopa County, Ariz. – January 21, 2026 – Electric Research and Manufacturing Cooperative, Inc. (ERMCO), a leading manufacturer of distribution transformers and electrical equipment, has revealed plans to open a new manufacturing facility in Maricopa County, Arizona, specifically in Waddell, west of Phoenix.

The 566,121-square-foot plant (including office space) will focus on three-phase distribution transformers to address rising grid demands from data centers, chip manufacturing, and other high-power applications. Operations are slated to begin in 2027, with site preparation starting in 2026.

The expansion is expected to create more than 500 new jobs and marks ERMCO’s first manufacturing presence west of the Mississippi River, strengthening domestic supply chains for electrical infrastructure.

“Our goal is simple: power the grid and power progress,” said Tim Mills, ERMCO President and CEO. “This investment ensures ERMCO is ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow.”
