Alcon Invests $81M to Expand Cabell County, WV Lens Plant

West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey announced on March 26 that Switzerland-based Alcon is significantly expanding its operations in Cabell County with an $81 million investment expected to create 75 new high-paying jobs.

Intraocular lenses

Alcon employs approximately 620 West Virginians at its facility, where it manufactures intraocular lenses and intraocular lens delivery systems used in cataract and vision correction procedures worldwide. The new positions are projected to pay an average salary of $80,000 per year.

Construction underway

According to West Virginia Public Broadcasting, construction on the expansion has already begun. The expansion will strengthen the company’s production capacity at a site that plays a significant role in Alcon’s global supply chain.

West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey said:

“For decades, Alcon has shown that a global leader can find great success right here in the Mountain State. This expansion demonstrates that West Virginia isn’t just a place to do business, but that it’s one of the best places in the world for a global leader to thrive.”
