Apple Commits $500 Billion to U.S. Manufacturing Expansion

In February 2025, Apple announced a $500 billion investment over four years to expand its U.S. manufacturing footprint, focusing on artificial intelligence servers and other devices. The plan includes a new 250,000-square-foot factory in Houston, Texas, set to open in 2026, alongside expansions in Arizona, California, Iowa, and other states. This move, driven by tariffs on imported electronics, aims to create 20,000 jobs and reduce reliance on overseas production, particularly from China. Apple’s CEO Tim Cook emphasized the company’s “bullish” outlook on American innovation during a White House meeting, highlighting partnerships with domestic suppliers to build an end-to-end semiconductor supply chain.
