Badland Batteries Opens Battery Cell Manufacturing Plant in Fargo, North Dakota

Badland Batteries celebrated the opening of its lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing plant in Fargo, North Dakota, on October 8, 2026. The facility will produce battery cells for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), defense platforms, robotics and other advanced technologies.
An 80,000-square-foot facility
According to InForum, the 80,000-square-foot, $100 million facility at 1358 39th St. N. in Fargo houses a large clean room for manufacturing battery cells. Finished cells will be assembled into customer-ready battery packs at the company’s manufacturing and assembly facility about a mile away.
A UAS-specific supply chain
Badland Batteries says it is the first UAS-specific facility to control the entire manufacturing process, from raw material sourcing and in-house qualification to finished cells, using domestic or allied-sourced materials with full traceability. The company can increase production as industry demand grows.
Terri Zimmerman, CEO of Badland Batteries and Packet Digital said:
“Opening this facility marks an important step forward in building a secure and resilient battery supply chain here in the United States. Simply put, we believe that America should build its own batteries.”
U.S. Senator John Hoeven said:
“Building a strong domestic battery ecosystem is critical to our nation’s economic competitiveness and national security.”
