CHS Breaks Ground on $700 Million Soybean Processing Facility in Evansville, Wisconsin

CHS, the largest farmer-owned cooperative in the United States, held a ceremonial groundbreaking on October 7 for its planned soybean processing facility in Evansville, Wisconsin.
80 million bushels a year
The roughly $700 million facility is expected to process 80 million bushels of soybeans annually, producing approximately 1 billion pounds of soybean oil and 2 million tons of soybean meal for food, feed and renewable fuel markets.
Jobs
When operational, the plant is expected to support approximately 80 full-time jobs and create hundreds of construction and skilled trade positions during development.
Next steps
Project development is underway, with construction expected to begin once required permitting is complete. CHS also announced $50,000 in Evansville community investments.
CHS President and CEO Jay Debertin said:
“Today marks an important investment in the future of agriculture. This facility will provide farmers with another reliable market for their soybeans while strengthening domestic supply chains and supporting growing demand for U.S.-produced agricultural products.”
Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers said:
“This is a huge deal, and one that’s long overdue. Joining the growing network of CHS processing facilities, this $700 million project is a boon for local folks and families in Evansville, as well as farmers across the region.”
