JVIS Opens Defense Tech Center in Auburn Hills, Michigan

Michigan automotive technology company JVIS launched JVIS Defense & Aerospace and opened its new Tech Center at 1020 Doris Road in Auburn Hills, Michigan, on October 27, 2026. The company says the expansion has the potential to create more than 1,000 jobs in Macomb and Oakland counties.

The Tech Center will serve as a hub where the company develops, matures and commercializes defense programs, moving them from concept toward production. Its first defense contract supports the U.S. Army’s Ground Vehicle Systems Center in Warren with the Silent Watch Auxiliary Power Unit, which uses standard military fuel and fuel-cell technology to provide quiet, low-signature power for military vehicles.

Alan Wagner, Managing Director of JVIS Defense & Aerospace said:

“Michigan built the Arsenal of Democracy once, and we intend to build it again. Today is about bringing defense work, and the good-paying jobs that come with it, back to Michigan, where the engineering talent and manufacturing know-how have been all along.”

First phase of expansion

New jobs will include engineering, manufacturing, technical, support and assembly roles. JVIS plans to announce additional steps to expand its manufacturing footprint over the next year.

Jason Murar, President of JVIS said:

“This Tech Center is the first phase of our expansion. In the coming months and over the next year, we’ll announce additional steps to expand our manufacturing footprint for these remarkable technologies we’re developing for both government and commercial applications, and to create new jobs for the state of Michigan.”
