Project Type: Expanding existing US production
Lockheed Martin Breaks Ground on Troy, Alabama Expansion for ARRW Hypersonic Missile Production

Lockheed Martin broke ground on October 27, 2026 on an expansion of Building P-20 at its Troy, Alabama site to produce the Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW). The same day, the company announced a $694 million U.S. Air Force contract for ARRW production.
Tripling production space
The expansion adds 47,000 square feet of production space for ARRW and will triple the current facility’s production space. It will generate new jobs over the next four years, adding to the almost 4,000 Lockheed Martin employees in Alabama. The facility will use advanced manufacturing, robotics and digital technologies.
Hypersonic strike from the B-52
Integrated on the B-52, ARRW travels at more than Mach 5. Lockheed Martin said it has already funded the efforts, materials and equipment required to start ARRW production.
Tim Cahill, President, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control said:
“The ARRW production contract award showcases Lockheed Martin’s ability to develop and begin production on cutting-edge systems at unprecedented speed and scale.”
The ARRW expansion follows Lockheed Martin’s earlier groundbreaking on a separate munitions production center in Troy.
