Project Type: Expanding existing US production
M.C. Dean to Invest $412.5 Million in Modular Manufacturing Campus Expansion in Caroline County, Virginia

Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger announced on October 13, 2026 that M.C. Dean, a power and technology engineering firm, will invest $412.5 million to expand production at its Modular Mission Critical manufacturing campus in Caroline County. The project will create 1,950 new jobs.
Two new manufacturing buildings
M.C. Dean plans to construct a 442,000-square-foot building on its existing main campus and a 1.5 million-square-foot building on its 600-acre north campus. The expansion pushes land investments to 1,300 acres and total campus capacity to more than 3.6 million square feet by 2030, making it the largest modular manufacturing campus in the United States.
The facilities will be equipped with industrial machinery, automation and robotics. The campus designs, integrates, manufactures and commissions power, mechanical, communications, automation, security and life safety solutions for digital infrastructure and capital projects.
Workforce training
The company is also investing in a new Power Systems Training Center at Caroline High School in 2027, offering electrical systems training and a career and technical education pathway.
Governor Abigail Spanberger said:
“With this major expansion, M.C. Dean is choosing to build its future here in Virginia — creating nearly 2,000 new jobs for Virginians, expanding production capacity, and strengthening the Commonwealth’s role in supporting the infrastructure that keeps our country running.”
Bill Dean, President and CEO of M.C. Dean said:
“We’re poised to deliver one large power module every 30 minutes this year, compounding our output and impact, and providing long-term economic benefit, local workforce development, and high-paying careers for residents.”
