Micro Bird USA Doubles Bus Production Capacity in New York

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — Blue Bird Corporation’s Micro Bird brand has officially opened a new 156,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Plattsburgh, New York, marking a significant expansion in U.S. bus production. The $38 million plant, which celebrated its grand opening on September 9, 2025, will double the company’s production capacity for Type A school buses and enhance its output of small and mid-size commercial vehicles.

The state-of-the-art facility currently employs more than 225 people and is expected to create up to 350 jobs in the region, boosting local employment and supporting New York’s manufacturing sector. Governor Kathy Hochul attended the opening ceremony, highlighting the project’s role in revitalizing the North Country economy.

“With our new facility, we are doubling our production capacity and increasing our ability to deliver high-quality, long-lasting small and mid-size buses to our customers,” said Eric Boulé, President and CEO of Micro Bird.

This expansion positions Micro Bird USA to meet growing demand for reliable school and commercial transportation solutions across North America.
