Mitsubishi Power Invests $490M in Savannah Turbine Plant

Mitsubishi Power Americas announced on October 23 plans to expand its Savannah Machinery Works facility in Pooler, Georgia, a U.S. manufacturing and service center for advanced-class gas turbines, steam turbines and power generation equipment.

450,000 square feet and 220 jobs

The expansion, supported by a $490 million investment from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, will add 450,000 square feet to the existing facility and create more than 220 new jobs.

More machining capacity

The investment will add machining capacity and advanced manufacturing technologies to help meet rising demand for power generation equipment across the Americas.

Meeting power demand

Bill Newsom, President and CEO, Mitsubishi Power Americas said:

“Meeting the growing demand for power will require investment in facilities, in our supply chain and in our workforce – which is what we’re building here at Savannah Machinery Works. This expansion strengthens American manufacturing and gives our people the advanced capabilities they need as they continue to deliver for our customers.”
