Nextnova Plans 2 GW Solar Cell Factory in Yukon, Oklahoma

Oklahoma City-based Nextnova Solar, a partner of Thornova Solar, has announced plans for a 2 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in a 458,000-square-foot building in Yukon, Oklahoma. The facility is expected to employ about 300 people.
Mass production from March 2027
Nextnova plans to begin work on the facility in November 2026, with mass production starting in March 2027. The plant could scale to 5 GW of annual capacity as demand grows. The company highlights an integrated manufacturing execution system, an advanced process control laboratory and full material traceability.
Nathan Miller, Chief Strategy Officer of Nextnova said:
“Nextnova is being built to deliver more than high-efficiency solar cells. We are creating a manufacturing platform that gives customers greater confidence through advanced technology, rigorous quality systems and complete transparency across the supply chain.”
Closing the U.S. cell gap
U.S. solar module assembly capacity far exceeds domestic cell production, and new Section 232 tariffs on imported solar cells are increasing demand for American-made cells.
