Northrop Grumman Opens B-21 Facility in Layton, Utah

Northrop Grumman, Utah officials and Layton City cut the ribbon on September 9 on East Gate 3, a new facility in Layton near Hill Air Force Base that will build key components for the U.S. Air Force’s B-21 Raider stealth bomber.

845,000-square-foot campus

East Gate 3 supports the wider East Gate campus, which measures 845,000 square feet across several buildings.

Up to 1,500 employees by 2032

The Layton facility will ultimately have capacity for 1,500 employees by 2032, filling engineering and manufacturing roles.

Supporting accelerated B-21 production

The facility is one of several in progress across the country to support the B-21 program, after the Air Force decided to accelerate production. Northrop said the first aircraft is on track to reach Ellsworth Air Force Base in 2027.

Chris Adams, vice president and general manager of the B-21 Program at Northrop Grumman said:

“East Gate 3 is an investment in this mission, an investment in our workforce, and of course, an investment in the state of Utah. Our highly skilled workforce continues to grow here in the state, and Utah will be critical along our path to delivering this capability at speed.”
