Prepac Manufacturing Relocates to North Carolina Amid Tariff Pressures

In March 2025, Canadian ready-to-assemble furniture manufacturer Prepac announced the closure of its Delta, British Columbia plant, impacting 170 workers, and shifted all production to its facility in Whitsett, North Carolina, near Greensboro. The move, completed by May 2025, focuses on furniture like bedroom sets and storage solutions, aiming to dodge impending U.S. tariffs under the Trump administration and improve supply chain efficiency.
This reshoring initiative includes a $27.1 million investment in Guilford County, creating 201 new jobs and leveraging North Carolina’s skilled workforce and logistics advantages. While sparking controversy in Canada over job losses, it boosts U.S. manufacturing by reducing lead times and enhancing domestic production resilience.
