Sam Dong Invests $13.5 Million to Expand Transformer Wire Production in Rogersville, Tennessee

Sam Dong Invests $13.5M in Rogersville, Tennessee Plant

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and Sam Dong officials announced in August 2026 that the company will create 22 new jobs and invest $13.5 million in Rogersville, Tennessee.

More enamel and CTC capacity

The investment will expand production capacity of enamel and Continuously Transposed Conductor (CTC) lines at the Hawkins County facility. Sam Dong makes winding wires used in transformers and utility-scale grid applications, including CTC, enameled, paper-insulated and bare rectangular copper wire, and holds a majority share of the North American market for transformer-related winding wire.

Nearly 175 employees in Tennessee

Headquartered in Eumseong-gun, South Korea, Sam Dong established operations in Tennessee in 2007 and will employ nearly 175 people in Rogersville after the expansion.

Sam Dong said:

“As the electrical grid across North America undergoes a critical period of modernization and expansion, the demand for high-performance materials has never been more urgent. At Sam Dong, we are proud to expand our production capacity for Continuously Transposed Conductor (CTC) magnet wire to help meet this need.”
