Skydio Commits $3.5B to Expand US Drone Manufacturing

Skydio, the largest U.S.-based drone manufacturer, announced on April 24 plans to invest $3.5 billion in the United States over the next five years to expand domestic manufacturing, accelerate R&D and strengthen American supply chains.

2,000+ jobs and $1 billion for suppliers

The investment is expected to create more than 2,000 new Skydio jobs, support more than 3,000 additional roles in the U.S. supply chain and direct more than $1 billion to domestic component suppliers.

SkyForge and a new factory

A key component is SkyForge, a new program designed to ensure drones are built in America. Skydio also plans to open a new U.S. manufacturing facility five times larger than its current space. The company has outgrown four American manufacturing facilities in eight years, and this will be its fifth expansion. Skydio designs, assembles and supports its products from its headquarters in San Mateo, California.

Adam Bry, Co-founder and CEO of Skydio said:

“Skydio has proven that American companies can compete and win in the civilian drone market against products from our adversaries.”
