Smithfield Foods Plans $1.3 Billion State-of-the-Art Pork Processing Facility in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Smithfield Foods announced plans for a new highly automated processing facility in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, subject to permitting and approvals. The facility will replace the company’s existing plant while continuing to support thousands of jobs in agriculture and food production.

“This highly automated facility will represent a major investment in Sioux Falls, the state of South Dakota and the future of American agriculture,” said Shane Smith, president and CEO of Smithfield Foods.
