Starlab Taps Vivace for Space Station Build

In a significant step toward the future of commercial space exploration, Starlab Space has selected Vivace International Corporation to manufacture the primary structure of its next-generation commercial space station at Vivace’s facility in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The aluminum-based structure, described as one of the largest single spaceflight components ever developed for launch, will be assembled at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility. This collaboration is expected to generate high-skilled manufacturing jobs in the region, boosting Louisiana’s role in the aerospace industry.

“Selecting Vivace to lead the manufacturing of Starlab’s primary structure is a major milestone,” said Marshall Smith, CEO of Starlab. “Starlab is meticulously engineered to deliver scalability, reliability, and mission-critical research to our partners.”

Starlab, a joint venture between Voyager Space and Airbus, aims to establish a continuously crewed low Earth orbit station for research and commercial activities. This announcement follows the recent unveiling of a full-scale mockup of the station, highlighting rapid progress in its development.
