Timberlab Breaks Ground on $190 Million CLT Facility in Millersburg, Oregon

Timberlab's $190M CLT Facility in Oregon

Timberlab Inc., a leading provider of mass timber systems and a subsidiary of Swinerton Incorporated, has broken ground on a 190,000-square-foot cross-laminated timber (CLT) manufacturing facility in Millersburg, Oregon. The $190 million project, one of the largest CLT production sites in the U.S., will produce 7–9 million square feet of CLT annually, meeting growing demand for sustainable building materials.

The facility, designed by LEVER Architecture and built by Swinerton Builders, will create at least 100 jobs and is supported by a USDA Forest Service Wood Innovations Grant. It will use glue-laminated timber from Timberlab’s facilities in Swisshome and Drain, with a sawmill in Philomath ensuring local sourcing. “This groundbreaking marks a pivotal moment for Oregon’s mass timber industry,” said Timberlab President Chris Evans. “It supports rural economies and advances sustainable construction.”

Oregon Governor Tina Kotek, who attended the ceremony alongside state and local officials, emphasized, “This facility is key to our goal of building a low-carbon future.” The project, set for completion by late 2026, strengthens Oregon’s role in the mass timber supply chain.
