USDA Backs $24.6M Loan for Dimmitt, Texas Beef Plant

Vice President J.D. Vance announced on October 29 a USDA Business and Industry Guaranteed Loan Program investment to support construction of a locally owned, USDA-inspected beef processing facility in Dimmitt, Texas.

400 head of cattle a day

The facility, backed by a $24.6 million commercial loan, will process approximately 400 head of cattle per day.

220 new jobs

The plant is expected to create 220 new jobs with an average wage of $30 per hour.

Owned by local cattle producers

The project was initiated by 36 local investors who raise cattle throughout the Texas Panhandle. Their goal is to develop an alternative to major national meat-processing companies and support more competitive beef prices.

Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins said:

“This new facility will process 400 head of cattle a day, and create 220 new jobs in the great Texas community of Dimmitt.”
